We've been fortunate enough to visit the U.S. twice; both time celebrating significant birthdays. The first trip took in Boston, New England, Niagara & New York. More recently, Vegas, Grand Canyon, LA, Pacific Highways, Yosemite, San Fransisco & New York. From a continental basis, although President Trump probably wouldn't like this, also included a few here from our Mexico trip!
We were quite late exploring the Greek Islands but very quickly fell in love with everything about them & have subsequently visited a number. The images in this gallery are from some of our later trips including Crete, Zante & to come shortly, Rhodes.
We spent a week on Zanzibar after our safari for some R & R as the safari was fairly gruelling (but very enjoyable of course). What a fantastic island with a rich history (as the centre of the slave trade in previous times - not all of it good!). Despite this being a "chill" time, would have been wrong not to get out & about to see the island & experience it's culture.
Found Cyprus in between some of our Greek visits & subsequently visited 3 or 4 times. All the atmosphere of Greece but driving on the left & UK plug sockets! You also get the mix of Mediterranean climate and, if you go to the mountains, almost an alps feeling.
The Canary Islands
Here's another favourite too.Not done Grand Canaria yet & Fuerteventura was some years ago with young children. More recently, we've used Tenerife & Lanzarote as a location for an early year (March) break. We gravitate towards Lanzarote now since it's so easy to get through the airport. We normally hire a villa in Playa Blanca & pick up a car at the airport for the duration. With a little planning, we're normally out of the airport on around half an hour, and another half hour later we're unpacking at the villa - perfect!
Camping holidays in France were our "go to" when the children were smaller - such a relaxed holiday. We've been back a few times since then; most recently in the summer after our first grandchildren were born when we hired a large farmhouse for the whole family.
Out of Africa!
We were lucky enough to be able to enjoy a safari for our silver wedding anniversary & spent a fantastic week in Tanzania. We were struck by many things on the trip; the enormity of the country ( the Serengeti is just one of 9 national parks & roughly equates to the midlands region of the U.K), the friendliness of the people & the special privilege of being some close to such fantastic animals in their natural environment but most importantly, the friendliness of the people.
